Russia remained the top crude oil supplier to China in January, data showed, starting 2018 on a strong note after the operation of an expanded trans-Siberia pipeline began and as China released more crude import quotas for independent refiners.

China's coal machinery manufacturers are expected to continue their strong run till 2020, buoyed by a recovering coal mining sector, analysts said.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Co, the state-owned oil company of the United Arab Emirates, said on Wednesday that China's growing demand for crude remained integral to its long-term growth strategy.

The China-Myanmar crude oil pipeline carried 3.87 million tons of crude oil into China last year, customs authorities in southwest China's Yunnan province said Friday.

Meanwhile, China imported 2.52 million tons of natural gas through a second pipeline linking the two countries, said Kunming Customs.

North China's coal-rich Shanxi Province has added nearly 10.5 billion tonnes of newly discovered coal reserves over the past five years, local authorities said Saturday.

Shanxi produced more than 16.2 billion tonnes of coal from 1949 to 2014, accounting for one-quarter of the total coal output across the country, said the provincial land and resources department.
