CHINA MINING Congress and Expo 2014 opened in Tianjin today. Its subject is “ Sustainable Development through Innovation”, special subjects around mineral sustainable development, global mineral exploration situation, mining industry and capital market, green mines, mineral comprehensive utilization and so on.
Jiang Daming, the minister of China’s ministry of Land and Resources, attended the opening ceremony and gave a keynote speech. Jiang Daming said, the current recovering situation are turning good continuously, but the increasing base is not solid, the increasing pattern is still unbalanced and where to go next is still unsure. China has developed into a new period called Three Major Trends, that is the shift phase for economic growth, the throes phase for structural adjustment and the digestion phase for the early stimulus policies, the increasing rate is changing from high speed into medium high speed, it is getting in to an ordinary state of high quality and efficiency. Meanwhile, Jiang Daming pointed out that, as an important driving power for global economic development, mining industry not only shoulders the responsibility of promoting recovery and growth, but also faces the pressure of transformation and upgrading. Though a certain adjustment even downturn emerged in current mineral industry, good fundamentals haven’t been changed. China will continue to carry out the strategic action to prospect totally, mobilize each side enthusiasm to prospect, strengthen the exploration in the aspects of energy mines, mines in short and strategic emerging mines, strive to realize the new breakthrough in prospecting and improve the support ability of domestic resources.
Jiang Daming introduced that Chinese government are giving great impetus to promote ecological civilization, mining industry takes an important part in ecological civilization. At present, four groups, 661 national level green mine experimental units, first batch 40 mineral comprehensive utilization demonstration bases pushed out at present, are playing good roles.
There are government officials, specialists and scholars, representatives of mineral enterprises and financial institutions from over fifty countries and regions, more than 7000 people in total attending this congress. Over 400 exhibitors from home and abroad, 2000 stands, 38,000 square meters exhibition area. Forums session, foreign mine ministry forum, high-level forum for enterprise development will be held and over 30 forum sessions and national project popularizing will be pushed out.
