China’s geological survey made great progress and achievements

From the Progress and Achievements in Geological Survey forum held during the CHINAMIING, the reporter has learned that in recent years, especially since 2014, China has made progress in geological survey and basic geological survey. Prospecting has been gained during the mining resources strategic exploration.
In 2014, we have finished 1:50,000 regional surveys in 220,000 km2, totally 3,050,000 square kilometers in the whole nation, 32% of the land territory. In the mean time, progress has been made in 1:250,000 regional surveys, 1:50,000 aeromagnetic surveys, 1:250,000 regional gravity surveys and 1:250,000 regional geochemical explorations and continuously filling in the gaps. The national basic geological data architecture built by China Geological Survey has included 470 small-scale maps, 3,292 medium-scale maps and 5,320 large-scale maps.
In the strategic actions of the prospecting breakout, basic geological work has taken a supporting and leading role. China has systematically finished the comprehensive research on the basic geological survey of the 20 national important metallogenic belts and found out the geology background of the mineralization. We have also confirmed the direction of further prospecting, guided the deployment of prospecting work and found a lot of mines and prospecting information.
Specifically, 3D geological survey pilot projects have made efficient progress, sorted out our 3D geological survey thoughts and established the general working process. Also, we have summarized the technology combining method of 3D geological survey in different areas and geological conditions and compiled preliminary technology guidelines. Besides, we have preliminarily established 3D geological models for every pilot regions and progress has been made in significant deep geological research.
In the aspect of the strategic exploration of the mining resources, in recent years, the important mining resources research has been deployed, surrounding the important Metamucil belts, equipped exploration regions and prospecting areas. Also, surrounding the deep mines and outside intensive mines, prospecting work near the old mines is deployed. The level of mining survey has been promoted obviously. In 2013, China has finished 1:50,000 mining research in 70,000 km2. The working level of the important metallogenic belts and 78 equipped exploration regions has been increased to 56.7% and 90.9%. Significant oil and gas resources have been found in Yin’e, Tuquan, Qaidam and Qilan basins. Shale gas resource favorable targets have been found in Sichuan, Hunan, Guizhou and other areas. The strategic exploration has found a batch of large deposits, promoted the progress of prospecting through increasing the degree of mining research, creating prospecting theories and technology methods and formed Duolong copper mine, Guizhou Daotuo manganese ore, Qinghai Xiarihamu nickel and other super mines. The prospecting of old mines has also found new resources. From 2012 to 2014, 168 projects of old mines prospecting have been implemented, 9 of which has reached the scale of large mines and 27 of which has reached the scale of medium mines.
