On October 26, the 25th China Mining Conference and Exhibition (CHINA MINING 2023) opened in Tianjin. With the theme of "Innovation Promotes High-quality Development of Mining", this session seeks a common path of global mining innovation and promotes the high-quality development of the global mining industry.
The Hon. Chen Min’er, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, the Hon. Wang Guanghua, Minister of Natural Resources of China, the Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor , Minister of Land and Resources of Ghana, the Hon. Zhang Gong, Mayor of Tianjin, and the Hon. Xu Dachun, Vice Minister of Natural Resources of China, jointly opened the conference. The mining ministers, vice ministers and Ambassadors to China from Ghana, Suriname, Nigeria, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, South Africa, Zambia, Australia, Tanzania, Malawi, Congo (DRC), Argentina, Peru and other countries attended the opening ceremony. The Hon. Li Jinfa, Director General of China Geological Survey attended the opening ceremony, and Mr. Peng Qiming, Chair of the Organizing Committee of CHINA MINING 2023 & President of China Mining Association, presided over it.
In his speech, Wang Guanghua pointed out that as the world's largest producer, consumer and trading country of mineral products, China has always adhered to the new development concept, continued to promote the green development and safety governance of the mining industry, adhered to reform, continued to release the dividends of mining policies, adhered to mutual benefit and win-win results, and continued to promote the opening up and cooperation of the mining industry. At present, the uncertainty of the international mining market has increased significantly, and the global mining industry is in a critical period of accelerated transformation. On behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Wang Guanghua put forward a three-point proposal. The first is to promote innovation and development and add new momentum to the development of the mining industry, to promote research, development and application of new theories, new technologies, new methods, new processes and new equipment for the exploration and development of mineral resources, and to promote the organic integration of mineral resources innovation chain, industrial chain, capital chain and talent chain. The second is to promote green development and cultivate a new model for the development of the mining industry. To promote green technologies, processes and equipment to achieve effective synergy between mine development and ecological protection. The third is to promote cooperation and development and build a community with a shared future in the mining industry. All parties will work together to build a high-quality Belt and Road Initiative and continuously promote the liberalization and facilitation of global mining investment and trade.
Zhang Gong delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. He said that the theme of this conference is "Innovation Promotes High-quality Development of Mining Industry", focusing on industry hot spots, building a high-level platform for all parties to enhance exchanges, take the pulse of the market, and strengthen cooperation, which will add impetus to the recovery and prosperity of the world economy. Tianjin has a strong industrial foundation, abundant scientific and educational resources, obvious geographical advantages, developed port transportation, and close connection between mining, metallurgy, petrochemical, equipment manufacturing, shipping and other industries and mining. The Hon. Samuel Jinapor, Minister of Land and Resources of Ghana, said in his speech that China's friendship with African countries has been strengthened day by day, and China has become Africa's largest trading partner. Mining is an important foundation of Africa's economy, and Ghana and other African countries are rich in mineral resources such as platinum group metals, rare earths, aluminum, and lithium to support the transition to green energy.
The Hon. Abdullah Bin Mufter Al-Shamrani, Director General of the Saudi Arabian Geological Survey, delivered a speech on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia. He said that Saudi Arabia is willing to strengthen international cooperation with all parties, continue to promote the country's geological survey and mineral resources exploration, improve infrastructure construction, introduce new technologies for mining development, improve the mining business environment, and contribute to global energy and resource security around the Sustainable Development Goals.
After the opening ceremony, Chen Min’er, Wang Guanghua and Zhang Gong visited the Exhibition booths with the VIP guests, exchanged views with domestic and foreign guests on topics such as mineral exploration and development, mineral product trading, and international mining cooperation, and held the release of the "China Mineral Resources Report 2023". Xu Dachun presided over the Mining Ministers Forum and invited 5 ministers or vice ministers of mining of relevant countries to deliver keynote speeches and exchanges on "Innovation Promotes High-quality Development of Mining".
