China will ban new capacity for steel, coke and primary aluminium production in some key areas, including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Yangtze River Delta regions, the State Council said on Wednesday, the latest effort to improve air quality.

 

The central authority also said it will provide National 6 Standard diesel fuel, one of the cleanest fuel products in the country, nationwide from Jan. 1, 2019.

 

The announcements were made as the Chinese government considers a new three-year, anti-pollution plan to address growing public concern about air pollution.

A joint mega energy project by Kazakhstan and China is being praised as a supreme example of the type of synergy that can be generated by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, whose leaders meet next weekend in Qingdao, China.

The coal industry and the state of West Virginia have plenty to sell to China if the country wants to increase US imports to help reduce US trade deficits with China.

Major state copper and aluminium producers were among the companies that traded almost half a billion yuan of metal on Shanghai Futures Exchange's (ShFE) new physical trading platform in its debut on Monday, the exchange said.
