Wang Min Met with Chilean Ambassador to China

 

On May 22, Wang Min, Vice Minister of Land and Resources and Chief of China Geological Survey Bureau, met with Louis Schmidt, Chilean ambassador to China, in Beijing.

On behalf of the Ministry of Land and Resources, Wang Min welcomed the coming of Schmidt. He pointed that China and Chile maintained a good relation for a long time. He once visited Chile and had a profound impression on the prospection and development of Chile Copper, hoping to keep closer exchanges, deepen the communication of resource management, environmental protection, and for the world`s mining market situation analysis and countermeasures.

Wang Min pointed out that the new session of the Chinese government would further advance reform and opening up and promotes the transformation of government functions to release more market dynamics. China will further open the market of mining to further strengthen international cooperation, and sincerely support the cooperation of both sides in the field of mining, finding the practical and feasible way to mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation.

Schmidt said that Chile is China`s second largest trade partner in Latin America, and China is the first largest trade partner. The two countries maintain a close relationship in the intellectual economic and trade exchanges. Chile is a mining giant which accounts for two-thirds of Latin America. The mining Sector cooperation between the two countries is very important.
The two sides discussed the issues on cooperation. The officials of The Ministry of Science and Technology and International Cooperation Department, China Mining Association, CHINA MINING Organizing Committee attended the meeting. (Ding Shuangli) (translated by TLRHVC).
