China and Mexico should further expand mining investment

“China and Mexico should work in concert and further expand bilateral business investment in the mining industry based on the current solid cooperative foundation. Comprehensive cooperation should be applied to deepening geological survey, exploring and prospecting mining resources, processing trade and environmental protection. In this way, we can make continuous progress of the mining cooperation.” Mr. Li Jinfa, Deputy Director General of China Geological Survey, said on the 2014 CHINAMING Mexico Mining Investment Forum.
Mr. Li Jinfa said that China and Mexico, two important mining countries with abundant mining resources, have close relationship in mining investment as well as in trade and economy. The two countries have complimentary partnership. China is Mexico’s second largest trade partner and Mexico is also China’s second largest trade partner in the Latin America. With great growth potential, the mining business between the two sides is vigorously developing. China and Mexico have become important trading and investment cooperation partners. Positive contribution made by the implementation of batches of important mining investment projects has brought benefits to economy development, job settlement and well-being improvement. With the support of Sino-Mexican mining cooperation groups, a series of pragmatic and concrete cooperation has been carried out and developed. Besides, China’s Ministry of Land and Resources also establishes our friendly and cooperative relations with Mexican Ministry of Economic Affairs. The high-levels frequently exchange the ideas, as a result of which the cooperation mechanism has been improved. Especially the CHINAMINING and Mexico International Fairs for Mining Investment and Trade have been important platforms for bilateral cooperation and exchange. The two countries also cooperate in APEC and other multilateral organizations.
Mr. Li Jinfa pointed out that nowadays China is stepping towards the direction of realizing industrialization, informatization, urbanization and agriculture modernization. During the process of promoting economic transformation and expanding opening up, the investors including foreign enterprises will meet important opportunities to develop. We sincerely welcome Mexican enterprises to come to invest in China. Meanwhile, we will continuously encourage Chinese enterprises to take their advantages, honor their responsibility and invest in the prospecting and exploration of the Mexican mining resources. We believe that Chinese enterprises will be attracted by Mexico`s abundant mining resources and sound investment climate.
Mr.Li Jinfa emphasized that facing the instability of the recovery of the world economy, the development of the international mining industry meets with both opportunities and challenges. But there are more opportunities than challenges. Both China and Mexico have abundant mining resources as well as the good wishes to develop and boom the mining economy. The two countries are facing the common subject that is how to transform the advantage of resources into that of sustainable development. The enterprises of the two countries should have unwavering confidence, grasp the opportunities and make full use of the platform provided by the CHINAMINING. Also, we should actively promote the introduction, negotiation and cooperation of the mining project and make efforts to realize mutual benefits and sustainable development.
