On the evening of Oct. 17th and the morning of the Oct.18th, the Hon. Lu Hao, Minister of Natural Resources of China, met respectively with the Hon. Aziz Rabbah, Minister of Energy, Minerals and Sustainable Development, Morocco;
the Hon. Mme. Lelenta Hawa Baba Ba, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Mali; the Hon. Ms. Carolina Sánchez, National Mining Secretary, Ministry of Production of Argentine Republic; the Hon. Morie Komba Manyeh, Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Sierra Leone; the Hon. Johnson Tuke, Minister for Mining, Papua New Guinea, who all attended CHINA MINING 2018, and exchanged in-depth views on further strengthening cooperation in the mining field with them in Tianjin.
Lu Hao welcomed the ministerial officials and delegations of the five countries. He said that all people shouldered the responsibility of implementing the significant consensus for cooperation reached by President Xi Jinping and the leaders of the five countries, and were obliged to continuously deepen cooperation in the mining field through concrete and pragmatic measures. On the one hand, exchanges and cooperation in information sharing, personnel training, scientific research, laboratory construction, geological surveys, etc. between departments of both sides should be enhanced; on the other hand, because mining cooperation is relatively long-term comparing to general trade and industrial investment, China must give a full play to government’s leading role, and provide effective information and strong assistance in terms of mineral reserves, mineral grades, rules of exploration and mining rights, deep processing business model of minerals, investment facilitation, trade and investment policies and local costs of land, labor, water, electricity and logistics for bilateral mining enterprises for the purpose of promoting investment and cooperation of enterprises of both sides in exploration and development of the mining industry. He also suggested countries pushing information on exploration, development and cooperation of their minerals through the platform of CHINA MINING, which would receive sincere help from China.
The five ministerial officials all expressed their willingness to strengthen communication and exchanges with the Ministry of Natural Resources of China and jointly promote the pragmatic cooperation in the bilateral mining industry.
Mr. Zhong Ziran, Director-General of China Geological Survey together with heads of the relevant departments of Ministry of Natural Resources and China Mining Association also attended the meeting. (Wang Shaoyong) (Translated by TLRHVC)
