China first released the global assessment report on the reserves of five minerals

On October 22, at the 23rd China Mining Conference and Exhibition (CHINA MINING 2021) held in Tianjin, the Global Mineral Resources Strategic Research Center of China Geological Survey released the Assessment Report for Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel, Tin and Potash Reserves in the World (2021).

This is the first professional report formed by a Chinese research institution based on the self-established global mineral reserves data system. It is also an important basic information product and service for the investment and operation of international mining enterprises, the connection of supply and demand among global resources, and the “Belt and Road” mining cooperation and prosperity.

This is the first professional report formed by a Chinese research institution based on the self-established global mineral reserves data system. It is also an important basic information product and service provided for the investment and operation of international mining enterprises, the connection of global resource supply and demand, and the cooperation and prosperity of the "Belt and Road" mining industry.

The report systematically collected the "first-hand" data of 3168 mining projects around the world, comprehensively and objectively reflecting the reserves and distribution characteristics of five kinds of global mineral resources: lithium, cobalt, nickel, tin and potassium. Data show that as of by 2020, the global lithium ore (lithium carbonate) reserves are 128 million tons and the resources were 349 million tons, mainly distributed in Chile, Australia, Argentina, Bolivia and other countries. Cobalt reserves are 6.68 million tons and resources are 23.44 million tons. Nickel ore reserves are 90.63 million tons and resources are 260 million tons. Tin ore reserves are 3.27 million tons and resources are 8.07 million tons. Global potassium salt (potassium chloride) reserves are 12.9 billion tons and resources are 43 billion tons. Compared with the existing reserves, the guarantee degree of global lithium, nickel and potassium resources is high, while the guarantee degree of cobalt and tin is relatively low.

In the next step, the China Geological Survey will accelerate the establishment and improvement of the global mineral resources reserve data system and evaluation mechanism. It is planned to complete the dynamic evaluation of 40 important mineral resources reserves in the world in five years and release services in a timely manner. (By Liu Panpan)

ABOUT CHINA MINING

CHINA MINING CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION (CHINA MINING) IS OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED BY MINISTRY OF NATURAL RESOURCES CHINA. SINCE FIRST HELD IN 1999, CHINA MINING HAS BECOME ONE OF THE WORLD’S TOP MINING EVENTS AND ONE OF THE WORLD’S LARGEST MINING EXPLORATION, DEVELOPMENT AND TRADING PLATFORMS, COVERING ALL ASPECTS OF THE WHOLE MINING INDUSTRY CHAIN, INCLUDING SURVEY AND EVALUATION, EXPLORATION AND MINING, TECHNIQUES AND EQUIPMENT, INVESTMENT AND FINANCE, TRADE AND SERVICES, ETC., PLAYING AN ACTIVE PROMOTION ROLE IN CREATING EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES AND ENHANCING MUTUAL COOPERATION BETWEEN DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN MINING ENTERPRISES.

With the theme of "Multilateral cooperation—for development and prosperity of post pandemic era", China Mining Conference and Exhibition 2021 (CHINA MINING 2021) was held in Tianjin China on October 21-23, 2021. For more information about CHINA MINING, please visit: www.chinaminingtj.org/en/.
