Your Excellency Minister Jiang Daming, Executive Deputy Mayor of Tianjin Municipal People`s Government Cui Jindu and distinguished delegates from Chile, South Africa and Russia sitting on the rostrum, good morning!
I am very pleased to attend the CHINA MINING Congress and Expo again in Tianjin. This has been my third time to be here. As the most important mining congress in Asia, CHINAMINING creates chances for people in global mining industry to gather here and discuss the mining industry’s common development, crisis and opportunities. I wish to express my thanks to the organizer’s hard work which provides both Chinese and foreign delegates with a platform to share their experience in the mining industry.
Canada has participated in CHINA MINING since 1999 and we have witnessed China’s development and changes. Rapid development has been seen in the Chinese economy, infrastructure construction and urbanization process. All these show that China is in demand of more resources and energy. Now China plays a leading role in the world’s development. It has been a country which not only has a large demand but also be a good partner with investment demand. As the leader of the mining industry, China has many opportunities.
We also find that China has a very good investment climate. Since China can meet our demands both technologically and economically, we can achieve our common prosperity. Canada is a country with a vast territory, an excellent geologic condition and rich metals. Abundant in uranium and carbon, we also own the largest amount of mineral resources in the world and rare earth mineral. All these, with our continuous exploration, contribute to Canada being the largest mining country around the globe and absorbing 16% global investment.
Another important point is that Canada has very good human resources and strong capability of technology innovation. With that we can carry out exploration and investment in a better way. Many investors come to Canada and enjoy very good service. With the help of good equipment as well as knowledgeable and skillful technicians, we can implement mining exploration and investment projects. Besides, we can also offer legal services and other related security services. Our related R&D services promote the development of the mining projects such as mining geological survey, and also the development of earth sciences. All these help us find new mineral resources and help enterprises approach resolution information on investment.
Canada also has a very good investment climate. There are about 1500 companies listed in Canada and our law firms can offer many advisory services. We also perform very well in other aspects. We enjoy a very good natural environment and we will continue to protect the environment and local communities, supporting the development of the industry and reducing waste.
We have a strong sense of responsibility and we are of high efficiency. Just as Minister Jiang Daming pointed out that to maintain sustainable development, green development is the most important factor. Let us work together to make Canada a leading role of the industry and develop the mining industry without deteriorating the environment.
We hope that we can take a leadership in the global mining. We will carry out improvement and rectification and eliminate corruption. Such kind of open and transparent management is also hoped to be applied to our enterprises and is of great significance to the development of the mining industry. We will make effort to provide fair legal environment which is beneficial to the industry and communities. Therefore, the global investors and the industry’s counterparts should have confidence in us.
I hope at today’s CHINA MINING Congress and Expo, delegates in the mining industry from all over the world can have an in-depth exchange of views on the development and future of the mining industry, negotiate innovative cooperation approaches and bring about win-win cooperation.
