Sunny it is, CHINA MINING 2012 has been coming to an end at Mei Jiang Convention & Exhibition Center in Tianjin,. Ending, just like the beginning, is full of silent friendship: Communication and meeting are going on in the hall at different places in different ways; Sub-forums and promotion conferences are still ardently going; On the booth, geological materials and project introduction are still colorful as if they are meeting the last colleagues and guests interested in cooperation. The only difference is that in the hall hundreds of middle school and college students came to the visit and listen to the lecture. This is the Opening Day of China Mining 2012. With the ending of CHINA MINING 2012 in such a way, how is the conference in the heart of thousands of participants? This is my second time to come to China to participate in China Mining. China`s economic development speed left a deep impression on me. In this process, a lot of opportunities appeared. In fact, we come to China, because we have project cooperation in Greenland with a company from Shandong. China now has a lot of outbound investment enterprises. As a company specializing in shipping and airfreight for mining companies, we come here to look for more business opportunities. Jason Gordon, Director of Canada Metal Economic Group Metal Research Department: The congress and exhibition have reached the level of first-class international mining conference. This is my first time to attend CHINA MINING. And comparing to other international mining conference I had participated in, China Mining in Tianjin has reached the first-class level, and provide a high qualified services. The key is that we can meet a lot of cooperation partners here, and get a lot of valuable information. As a 30 years international mining information service and analysis company, we found a lot of opportunities in China, and some very promising cooperation intention is in negotiation. Andy Barnicoat, Chief, Minerals and Natural Hazards Division, Geoscience Australia: We come here to help enterprises to increase mutual understanding between the two countries. In the contact with Chinese enterprises, I heard some companies said in Australia the threshold of the investment is higher, so some can not adapt. In fact, we come here every year, in order to give more useful information to the investors of China and all over the world so as to enhance their understanding to Australia policy, aboriginal, taxation, environmental aspects. Setting up clear objectives so that we can recommend suitable investment project to them. At the same time, I hope China enterprises before investment are sure to make detailed investigation to the projects through professional company, and then improve the success rate of project. Carl Ruby, General Manager of Maxim Chemical (Shandong) co. LTD: We hope to see more Chinese counterparts here. This congress and exhibition gave us and other various types of mining company good communication opportunity, and also let more companies know us. In the communication with Chinese enterprises, I found a phenomenon that Chinese mining companies often have their own mine blasting team, while American and European enterprises generally tend to employ professional blasting company like us, because their service are more professional, and more cost-effective. It is said that there are more than 160 civil blasting companies in China, but I just saw six here. We hope to see more counterparts here. It can not only attract more customers, but also strengthen the competition. Ben Woost, Manager of Australia Snowden Company Business Development Department: Chinese mining enterprises are more and more mature in foreign investment cooperation. This is the fourth time I come to CHINA MINING. Compared with before, the Chinese enterprises are more and more mature in foreign investment and communication cooperation. Now many Chinese companies when doing foreign investment project can learn very detailed project information, make further investigation to the local policy, culture and environmental requirements, and are becoming more and more international in operation way. We, as a professional geological exploration and mining consulting services company, hope to joint with Chinese companies the power-and-power union, and carry on the project cooperation. There are so many opportunities, Next year I will come again! I’m very happy to participate in this great conference. A lot of people communicated in this hall and talked about the possibility of all kinds of cooperation, I think it is very successful. Peru mineral exploration and development degree is very low. I especially welcome to push our mining development. China and Peru`s mining have very good cooperation relations. From the amount of investment, China`s investment in Peru is very high in the whole Latin America. I hope our cooperation can walk further. I am eager to learn Chinese for better communication with Chinese colleagues, and even want to know more about Chinese culture and Chinese philosophy. Attending this congress, I not only won the exchanging and learning opportunities in mineral field, but also have the communication opportunity with different nations and cultures. Dong Shuwen, Vice dean of Chinese academy of geological: regression resources, focus on China This session of CHINA MINING, from a side, confirm the new trend of the global geological science development which was reflected on the 34th International Geological Congress. The global geological science is turning its theme from serving the society with the environmental protection to the new theme of same weight of supporting economic resources guarantee and servicing the society with environmental protection. The 34th International Geological Congress change the theme of 31st , 32nd , 33rd International Geological Congress “environmental protection, sustainable development”, to the theme "for tomorrow provide resources", And the next international geological congress host is South Africa another mining country. This shows that resources theme will continue. Why there is such a trend? I think, because the global is going into a new round of industrialization development period. After rapid development of the emerging economies such as China, Southeast Asia, Middle East, North Africa and South America and other countries group are going into the rapid development stage of industrialization. The global resources demand will face greater challenges. At the same time, along with the advancement of regional industrialization, China has become the first big center of global resource demand. Therefore, CHINA MINING this platform will attract the eye of the world afterward. Hu Jianming, Beijing 3DMing Software Technology co., Ltd.: consolidate old clients and make new friends Through the annual CHINA MINING, we can consolidate old customers and at the same time meet a lot of new users. Almost in the end, there are still some people finding booth to material, consulting relevant software functions, applications, etc. I hope this meeting would be more effective and give some suggestions: one is that the arrangement of the exhibition area would give as much as possible consideration for the convenience of exhibitors and visitors. To be specific, the division of the area should have further subdivision according to the categories. Such as: the government area, image display, product demonstration, investment financial district, mining service area, etc, so that the same exhibitors can have more time for the similar business discussion and communication, and visitors entering the exhibition area can find what they want to visit the exhibitors. And in the same area the deep comparison can be made within the related products or content to strengthen the effect of the exhibition. The second is that tickets trial ticket system can be used, i.e. the tickets can be sold to r mining related units who can enter the exhibition area learning about the relevant information of the industry, equipment development, the development of science and technology, but can not participate in forum. Tickets system for the exhibition can bring more popularity to attract more exhibitors, and make mining exhibition bigger. This is a good thing, but the exhibitors generally feel the number of people attending the exhibition reduced. Lack of popularity, it is likely to have much more government exhibitors. Government officials and senior leaders come too much but the specific work personnel who truly want to learn technology and information have been less. This situation should be considered. Let the conference has more market flavor. Fewer officials. Give specific work personnel much more opportunities. It can not only increase the appeal of the conference, but also can increase the appeal of the exhibition for the exhibitors. As a professional mining translation company, our mining translation service work reflects the new changes of mining investment. These countries relatively have stable political situation, and metallogenic conditions are relatively good. I see in Laos, the 70% of the mining companies are Chinese companies. In the conference, there are many companies employ us to do temporary translation, and we also established a few new customers. Tai An city: Mining companies are most eager to obtain valuable information. Last year when we got the news of CHINA MINING, we have already been late for registration. After the visit, we think this is a very good platform, so very early in this year we signed up and during these days feel really good. As a newly established geological exploration company, we hope in the mining conference to know the relevant countries` mining policy, domestic mineral development and relevant policies, such as the preferential policy of "going abroad" for private company and other company`s successful practice and experience, demonstrate the company`s image, and obtain the opportunity of mining right cooperation exploration or project matching. Delegates discussed on mining sustainable development

The sustainable development of the mining industry has always been one of the hot topics in CHINA MINING.  As time goes on, people`s understanding of sustainable development of mining has changed greatly. The focus has changed from sustainable development of mining to contributing to the line. In the sustainable development Breakout Session this year, some famous mining entrepreneurs from home and abroad discussed the contribution of mining industries for sustainable development. A Debate on the Macroscopic and Microcosmic View of Sustainable Development According to Wang Jianhua, chairman of the board from Shandong Gold Group Co., Ltd, sustainable development is a macroscopic proposition, involving the whole society and the global economy. At the same time, it is also a microscopic concept as even the small enterprises also want to live longer. Wang Jianhua mentioned that from history we knew that the long survival time of enterprises was not good for society. The sustainable development of the enterprises must be coordinated with the whole society and the world, otherwise, it is selfish and narrow. Therefore, Shandong Gold Group made its ultimate value goal six years ago: let more people benefit from Shandong Gold Group. If enterprises are no good to the society, then they should be merged and integrated, which conforms to the law of history. But to those mining enterprises in developing countries such as in China, the standard of sustainable development can not be the same with that in developed countries and capital accumulated enterprises. The Barriers of Sustainable Development Ben, the chairman of the forum, and director of International Mining and Metal Board put forward a question to those mining enterprises: What are the barriers of the sustainable development faced by enterprises in the future 20 years? Wang Jianhua believed the key was the value, the recognition of the mining managers and organizers to the value. Jiao Jian, Assistant President of China Minmetals Corporation believed that in the future 20 years, the challenges were the limited resources, infinite demand, the transform of the economic enterprises to the social enterprises and the change of thinking and behavior. Liu Xiangmin, senior vice president from Aluminum Corporation put forward three challenges: the sustainable development of economy and social progress, the sustainable development of the enterprises and environment, the sustainable development of resources and environment. How to Achieve Sustainable Development According to Wang Jianhua, if enterprises want to achieve sustainable development, first they must solve the resource problems. 6 years ago, it was estimated that the open mining quantity of Shandong Gold could only last for 4 to 5 years. Through the hard unremitting prospecting, the company survived finally. Second it is safety and environmental protection. In term of safety, Shandong Gold Group has no planning. As long as new technology and new standard are developed, they will be put into use immediately, regardless of the cost. Shandong Gold Group put forward the standard of no work-related death and environmental protection accident and took a lead in bringing the boilers in large mining’s to the ground, with tailings` life standard 7 times higher than that of the national standard. The above all resulted from the transformation of the notion of value. Meanwhile, human resources and enterprises’ culture are also very important. Shandong Gold Group respects the mining industry, the miners, and let workers become rich so as to have a decent life. Jiao Jian said that in order to solve the problems of resource security, the key was technology innovation and comprehensive recycling. He believed resources security was global macro problem. All the minerals are all faced with grade decline and the lack of infrastructure.  Resources can be made full use of through technology innovation. Liu Xiangmen suggested that sustainable development included the participation of society, government, public and enterprises. Enterprises should be beneficial to society and local places, protect environment and mobilize all forces to realize recycling. Meanwhile, the latter should be good to mining companies. That doesn`t means we forgive the low level of mining enterprises in the standard, technology and management, but create conditions to have mining companies run sustainably in accordance with specifications, law and morale. At the first weekend of November, CHINA MINING Congress & Expo 2012 was held in Tianjin as you expected. There is no doubt that CHINA MINING, as one of the biggest in Asia and one of the premier mining event in the world, has become the important platform for communication and cooperation involving forums, exhibition and special activities, attracting the world`s attention. Reporters got the following data from the news brief: 6000 delegates will have registered, including mining ministers or vice ministers of nearly 30 foreign countries (regions); Exhibition area is up to 25, 000 square meters with nearly 400 exhibitors at home and abroad. There will be 3 Keynote Sessions, 31 Breakout Sessions and 9 Country Investment Project shows. Sometimes, figures are convincing, but not attractive. So, what will be hot issue in this event? What will appeal to you? In last year`s overseas investment forum, representatives from China Railway Resources, Tianjin Huakan, Guangxi Non-ferrous Metals, Dele HuaYong Accounting Firm, development and research center of China Geological Survey Bureau introduced the experience and the matters to be focused in terms of the foreign investment and international cooperation, which were welcomed by the delegates. Since this year, the ministry of land and resources centers on the information services, strengthens the guidance and support of international cooperation in the field of geology and mineral resources, and has finished compiling mining investment guide of dozens of countries and regions, mining law codification, and the world mining consulting organization lists, etc.. Reporters learned that this year`s congress will highlight the mining projects and investment opportunities in the countries and regions including Brazil, Russia and Central Asia, Canada, Germany, Australia, Greenland, Argentina, Sweden, Peru and Africa, which will establish a platform of cooperation projects for the domestic and foreign mining companies. It should be mentioned that some substantial cooperation projects are signed every year. For example in 2010, 62 agreements were signed with the amount of 11.7 billion RMB Yuan. Key words: Prospecting Breakthrough and the Strategic Action In fact, to those who are familiar with China`s mining industry, "prospecting breakthrough and the strategic action" is known to them and are endowed with more expectation. On Oct.19th of the last year, before the CHINA MINING 2011, The executive meeting of the State Council passed the "The action platform of prospecting breakthrough and the strategy action” which requires us to realize the new breakthrough through the implementation of strategic action, form a group of important mineral resources strategic areas, establish important mineral resources reserve system and provide strong resources security and industry support for the stable and rapid economic development. Somebody says the strategic action is the beginning of prospecting mining. More people believe the action will exert a national effect on the mining prospecting. Last year, the ministry of Land and Resources set up the first 47 exploration areas to implement the strategic actions. Earlier this year, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance and other ministries jointly held a TV and phone meeting in the capital of China. The meeting emphasizes that China will strive to the prospecting breakthrough. Great progress in mineral exploration will be made within 3 years, and the great breakthrough in 5 years. The new pattern of mineral exploration and development will be reshaped. Since this year, many strategic action plans have been carried out. The Ministry of Land and Resources did better and set up the second 31 strategic action exploration areas. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land and Resources has organized research and investigation   several times and organized the central media to go to the mineral places to have "prospecting breakthrough is in action" activities. In the morning of November 5, 16 mining executives from home and abroad shared their experience of how to work together in the crisis and achieve win-win cooperation in face of the sustained turndown of the international mining in the past year. This event submitted an ideological feast for the exhibitors and there were more than 300 audiences presented. Opportunities in the Crisis, Focus on Industrial Upgrading, Merger and Reorganization Zhou Zhongshu, the President of China Minmetals Corporation, revealed the common  unfavorable situation for the line of international metal mining with a group of convincing facts: For more than a year, commodity prices had continued to fall, and almost had no rebound; New investment declined greatly as investors had lost their confidence; Enterprises were in the struggles for survival, and the prices of mineral products had shrank to the bottom line; Default occurred frequently in the circulation market and an unprecedented credit crisis had appeared in the mining market. According to Zhou Zhongshu, though the metal mining market was periodical in the development, and it was at the brink of frothy stage this year, we still had to be alert to the downturn which lasted such a long time and had wide influence. Although the whole world economy was in a downturn, including metal mining, external economic environment could not exert such a big effect on mining industry. In China, for example, the auto industry and the real estate industry were still maintaining a positive growth, which was enough to sustain the rigid demand of the basic minerals. The problems of world metal mining lay in the internal causes such as the overcapacity, the homogenization competition, and the unreasonable industrial structure. In view of the problems above, various countries have announced their new industry norms to promote the industrial upgrading and the healthy development. In order to solve the conflicts of capacity, competition and profit distribution from the essence, interests must be in redistribution. The international metal industry will be reshuffled, and a group of enterprises will go downhill for lack of the core competitiveness. For the problems of the low industrial concentration and the homogenization competition, Song Xin, deputy general manager from China Gold Group, Wang Janhua, deputy general manager from Shandong Gold Group and Li Shousheng, deputy general manager from Shandong Zhaojin Group all have the real empathy. At present, the gold industry is on the up grade, it still has to face the problems of the low industrial concentration, relatively small scale, slow development of the modernization and the apparent problems such as the repeated construction, repeated exploration and development. Industry dispersion not only affects the development of the gold enterprises in China but also the investment of the resources exploration. At present, China`s gold resources conservation is only 6,328 tons, ranking the third place in the world, which is not symmetric with China’s status as the biggest gold production source in the world.
 
In face of these common problems, Zhou Zhongshu said that the new technology revolution in the field of new energy, new materials, information, and the environmental protection industry is in the ascendant and remains its connotative growth at present. The green development has become a new economic trend. He also mentioned that as it is very difficult for the metal mining`s extensive development mode to conform to the demands of the new era, we must adjust the economic structure, speed up the industrial upgrading, rely on the advanced technology and enhance the service for the progress and development. In light of the merger and reorganization, Shandong Gold Group has obtained remarkable achievements. According to Wang Jianhua, based on large-scale resource integration, Shandong Gold Group has increased the investment on the technology and exploration and makes great breakthrough in the 800 meters, 1,500 meters and 2,600 meters deep mining prospecting, which greatly increases the company’s resources reserves. Shandong Gold Group is striving to make 100 tons of gold base to achieve the first-class prospecting, mining, science and technology security ecological modernization. The completion of the world gold base will further consolidate China’s No. one position in the gold production. “The price of gold should also be decided by the Chinese!” said Mr. Wang. According to Li Tong, CEO of BOCI, the global minerals demand structure has changed greatly under the background of the economic transformation. Strategic new industries and new technology industries has produced important influence on the traditional mining pattern. Shale gas and other alternative energy have accounted for more than ever before. The prices of traditional metal rises slightly, while the prices of new metals such as rare earth, and lithium generally rises sharply. For the mining giant, mergers and acquisitions have become the important means to increase resources reserve, enhance the technical level and expand the market share. He believed the concentration degree of the new metal industry is higher than that of the traditional industry. Although the global economy is in a downward cycle, mergers and acquisitions of new metal industry are still active. Production mode changes, technology research and development, the productivity promotion do all need a huge capital expenditure and the support of investment and financing. The capital market needs to be reformed urgently and the financing tool innovation should be accelerated to solve the financing demand of the mining enterprises. Increase the environmental protection and safety investment: “We don`t need the gold with the cost of life.” The green mine construction is the theme mentioned by almost every executive in this forum. HanJianGuo, deputy general manager from Shenhua Group Corporation Limited said, China, as world’s top consumer and producer of coal resources should implement the strategy of the high carbon and low carbon industry development. According to Han Jianguo, Shenhua has carried out a series of beneficial attempt in building the green coal industry, realizing the coal prospecting, mining, transportation, utilization, transformation, and the green development of its whole life cycle. At present, Shenhua Group has basically realized the coordinated development between large mining area resources and environment, and attempted the whole process of carbon capture and sequestration. At the same time, Shenhua invested 2.5 billion yuan to establish an independent innovation base of the low carbon clean energy industry and introduced a number of international top personnel to speed up the green coal industry development and demonstration project construction. Han JianGuo said enthusiastically that the green coal industry can not only provide green resources for human, but also provide business opportunities. He hoped counterparts, domestic and abroad, would participate in this new industry!" In the safety and environment protection, many executives also shared a lot of successful experience. Shandong Gold Group always adheres to the principal “NO Bloody Gold.” From 2008 to 2010, it invested 750 million yuan for the safety and environment protection, and no accident occurred during those years, which led to its leading position in the domestic mines exploration safety. At the same time, Shandong Gold Group had created the first national environmental friendly mining, established five green mining test bases, and strived to achieve the goal “Dedication of the gold and silver, leaving the green mountains and rivers.” According to Zhang Youxi, chairman of the board from Datong Coal Mining Co. LTD., the company always adheres to the principle of green mining, and 100,000 households have moved out of the mining area for the recovery of the ecological green environment. Now they have built a national mine park which is the largest in scale, the most profound in coal culture, and the most obvious in the ecological improvement. Meanwhile, they strive to construct the new pattern of low carbon and environmental protection and build TaShan circular economy park, realizing 100% utilization of the waste. Waste water from life and industry achieves zero discharge. TaShan circular economy park has achieved social, economic and ecological benefits. By the end of the year of 2011, the total investment was 20.7 billion RMB yuan, with an annual output of 23.5 billion RMB yuan, a profit of 5.3 billion RMB yuan, and the taxes 4.2 billion RMB yuan. Win-win cooperation and experience accumulation for “Invest in the Foreign Countries Strengthening the cooperation and working together in the crisis are the consensus among the mining enterprises’ executives. Cao Yunde, chairman of the board from Cambodian Khmer Resources Investment Holding Group Co., LTD , and Bai Deming, managing director from South Africa Standard Bank Group, who is responsible for business and clients in China, Asia introduced the mineral resources situation of Cambodia and South Africa respectively at the meeting and hoped that China’s mining enterprises would invest on their resources industries. After years of the rapid economic accumulation, Chinese enterprises have gradually matured and invested in the foreign countries, which has become the important choice for many China’s mining enterprises. Li Shousheng, deputy general manager from Shandong Zhao Jin Mining Industry, said that at present, China’s mining enterprises were big but not strong, and hard to compete with foreign rivals. The strategy of “Invest in Foreign Countries” for many gold enterprises were lack of strong policy support and the effect was not obvious. He hoped the large gold groups would participate in international market competition to become bigger and stronger with the national support. At the same time, opening the mining capital market, perfecting regulation system, enhancing the transparency and the sound development of mining capital market were all the support for the mining enterprises’ “Invest in the Foreign Countries”.　　 With a rich experience of “Invest in the Foreign Countries”, Zijin Mining Group Company shared its experience. Qiu Xiaohua, vice chairman of the board from the company believed that political risks were of primary caution. In addition, economy, social stability, labor policy, investment sensitive area and limited field should be investigated thoroughly, especially in some politically unstable countries. Qi Ming, deputy general manager from Yunnan Metallurgy Group thought that in the form of participation, holding, acquisitions or joint development, these enterprises could involve in the development of mining resources at home and abroad and realize a new breakthrough. Liu Xiangmen, vice President from  Aluminium Corporation of China said that in order to make the world first-class mining company, we must innovate resources cooperation pattern, and promote enterprises’ leap frog development. He also revealed that, as the product of exploration technology cooperation and mining investment mechanism innovation, China Aluminum and Lituo Exploration Co. Ltd. by China Aluminium Corporation and Lituo Group has obtained the approval of the Chinese government and will be formally established. Foreign mining ministers gathered together in Tianjin to attract China`s Investment

According to the news from China News Agency in Tianjin on November 5, mining ministers and top leaders from Canada, Cambodia, South Africa, Argentina and other countries gathered Mining Ministers and Mining Development Forum of CHINA MINING 2012. The ministers described mining development blueprint, policy, infrastructure construction and so on in their own countries, aiming to absorb international capital especially from China’s investment. Under the continuous financial crisis, global economic growth shows a downturn trend. Many countries’ Energy and mineral industries which have long-term investment return are facing the problem of capital pressure resulted from shrinkage of international investment. Although the international situation is bleak, Chinese enterprises` involvements in international investment, merger and acquisition are quite active in recent years. According to statistics, since 2002 the direct investment in foreign countries in the field of mining has increased year by year. By the end of 2011, China`s foreign investment was $424.7 billion, and mining industry $67 billion. China, as an important investment hot spot, receives the various countries` attention. The Hon. Ezekiel Momakewa, Vice Minister for Mineral Resources, Energy and Water Resources, The Republic of Botswana, said in the forum that Botswana government is dedicated to the improvement of the local infrastructure to help mining investors transport mineral resources and downstream processing. To attract investment, Botswana government adopts zero tariff system for mining equipment import and highly encourages the construction of downstream factory at the same time. The Hon. Esperanca Bias, Minister for Mineral Resources, The Republic of Mozambique, attached great importance to the cooperation with China in the line of mining and regarded it as the important contribution to future financial and social welfare. She hoped that Chinese enterprises could provide more service in mining, service and productivity construction in the future. The Hon. Anil Arora, Assistant Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Canada, highlighted Canada`s Perfect and transparence of mining system. He said all enterprises at home and abroad are treated equally in Canada. At the same time, the Canadian federal income tax is only 15%, the lowest among those 7 western countries including the United States, Germany, Italy, and etc. The Hon.
